A barely twelve years old Émile Hermès once bought on a walking-cane with a removable knob, concealing a parasol. An ivory pommel, a top-hatted gentleman’s head in painted porcelain, a ram’s head with scrolling horns of quartz, and a horn-carved duck feature alongside horses’ heads, horseshoes, the childlike figure of a jockey, and another holding his mount by the halter.
