Hermes silk twill giant plume scarf, hand-rolled, 55'' x 55''A twill weave as light as a feather.

For centuries, man has sought to master nature by shaping gardens. These gardens are summaries of all the arts, of all the sciences. They are built upon a unique architecture each time; they combine the art of botany with that of irrigation to be as flowering as possible in every season. But these gardens are also like a poem, a sculpture, music for those who take the time to discover them. Each of us carries within a vision of an ideal garden, an Eden, a paradise. And to have the chance to discover one’s secret gardens, the walker must slow down, wander without a specific destination, lose oneself until one’s soul can then roam freely and perceive the poetic reality of the surrounding universe, bathing in timeless contemplation, a silent reverie. In this square, the gardens are organized as a vast constellation. Here, the “stars” are in fact wells. The wells, containing the underground waters, primordial and mysterious waters bearing ageless secrets, contribute to the mystery of this universe that only dreamy wanderers have the chance to glimpse if they take the time. They are connected by a water network, thus creating plots that hold a diverse universe mixing geometric symbols and a multitude of flowers. Each garden has its guardian. A hybrid animal sentinel that carefully watches over the treasures of this imaginary cosmogony.

This square was printed in giant square format (140 x 140 cm) in feather twill for the Spring/Summer 2015 collection.
