Antique 950 silver sugar tongs by Philippe Berthier, Paris (active 1841-1851), who was one of the greatest silversmiths of the Second Empire during the reign of Napoleon III.

These tongs feature an intricate engraved Greek key frieze (meander motif) and beautifully crafted lion’s claw-shaped grips, showcasing Berthier’s exceptional craftsmanship. It features the prestigious Minerva hallmark and a maker’s mark, used from June 5, 1847, and re-stamped on June 20, 1851, confirming the authenticity and historical significance of this exquisite piece.

Condition : This item is in excellent antique condition, with a very shiny and solid appearance. It shows minor scratches, small dents, along with patina marks and light tarnish.
