This antique French 950 silver wine taster (tastevin) by Marc Parrod of Dijon (active 1903–1944) features a fleur-de-lis handle and a bowl adorned with grape clusters and vine motifs. It is hallmarked with the Minerva 1st Standard and the maker’s mark “MP.” The inscription “Ste BARBE 1959,” likely added later, may reference Sainte-Barbe, the feast day celebrated in honor of Saint Barbara in 1959.

Marc Parrod studied at Maison Dubret in Dijon, under the guidance of Charles and Henri Dubret, and went on to become one of the most significant and prolific creators of tastevins and marriage cups in the 20th century. He is notably mentioned in a May 2009 edition of the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Dijon. Known for his fantasy designs inspired by ancient motifs, Parrod crafted this elegant piece, making it both functional and a collector’s item.
