About Hôtel Ruhl The Ruhl Hotel in Nice, built in 1913 on the site of the former Hotel des Anglais, was a luxurious Belle-Epoque landmark designed by architect Charles Dalmas. Located at No. 1 Promenade des Anglais, it was known for hosting celebrities like Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald and epitomized the grand “palace” hotels of the early 20th century. The Ruhl was demolished in 1970, replaced by the Le Méridien Nice, though the adjacent Casino Ruhl and Ruhl Plage beach club still remain today.
About Krupp Berndorf Berndorf Metalware Factory Arthur Krupp is an Austrian company that produces high-quality silver-plated hollow ware and trays, specializing in metalwork. Founded in 1843 in the small village of Berndorf, Austria, the factory was initially managed by Alexander Schoeller and later purchased by Arthur Krupp, who previously worked in the factory. The company’s name is related to the German word for “bear village”, which is reflected in the bear profile factory marks. The company is best known for producing silver-plated trays, teapots, and bowls.
